Peter Ustinov is a successful British actor over a long career. Although British, he came from a mixed Russian/German descent and spoke 6 languages. during World War 2 he worked with David Niven at the British Army Cinema Division making propaganda films including The Way ahead directed by Carol Reed. In Odette he plays a French resistance fighter. Hotel Sahara is a much lighter war film set in a desert hotel that did show his comic talents. Quo Vardis is a an historical epic and the film that made him a major actor plus gained him a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Beau Brummell was a different historical drama where he plays Prince George. We're No Angels was another film that showed his comic talents alongside Humphrey Bogart. In Spartacus in manages to steal scenes from the other great actors in the film and for which he won Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Topkapi is basically a heist / caper film with Ustinov winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Hot Millions was an early film about computer fraud with Maggie Smith. In Death On The Nile he plays Hercule Poirot and gives one of the best performances of that character. He reprise the role in Evil Under The Sun, but with a much lighter touch to the character. His final film was Luther another historical film.
