Meg Ryan was a major box office star of the 1980's particularly for her romantic roles and was formely married to Dennis Quaid. She started her career on television, with a role in a soap opera before getting her first role in a big film with a supporting role in Top Gun. This led to a bigger role in the science fiction comedy Innerspace. D.O.A. was a remake of the 1949 film noir thriller. This was followed by another, Presidio. She then made When Harry Met Sally that in many ways has become her defining career role. Joe Verses The Volcano is a fantasy in which she plays three differnt characters. Sleepless in Seattle was a big box success for Meg Ryan. She then played a very different character in When A Man Loves A Woman where she plays an alcoholic that breaks up her family. Restoration was dip into historical drama. In Courage Under Fire she plays a military role and plays the same character but from the perspective of several other charcters. You've Got Mail was a return to romantic comedy and is a variation of the earlier The Shop Around The Corner. Hanging Up is about dealing with disfunctional family relationships, with much of the communication being on the phone. Proof Of Live is a thriller set in South America.
