Robert Downey Jr saves one of the King Charles dogs and is given a place in court. The king then marries him to one of his mistresses on the understanding that he does not fall in love with her. However when the king finds that he has fallen for her, his situation changes. This film has a good cast, but is disappointing, though it is visually well produced. Ian McKellan gives a good performance as the outside/servant.
