Anthony Hopkins is a popular Welsh actor who has acted in a wide variety of film types, including his excellent performance in the Silence Of The Lambs. After Nation Service he trained as an actor was initially mentored by Laurence Olivier. His first major film was The Lion In Winter and this was followed by an adaptatin of Hamlet. Young Winston was his first film with director Richard Attenborough. A Doll's House is an adaptation of the Ibsen play. A Bridge Too Far was another Richard Attenborough film as was the film Magic. For that film he learnt actual magic tricks and learnt to throw his voice as a ventriloquist. It was in the Elephant Man that his real ability as an actor became apparent. The Silence Of The Lambs is the film that Anthony Hopkins is best known for, with the most creepy and unnerving performance. Bram Stoker's Dracula was a very differnt style of horror film. As the butler in Remains Of The Day, he gives a restrained, subtle performance in this historical drama. He played an American president in Nixon and Amistad and was Oscar nominated for both performances. The Mask Of Zoro was one of the better swasbuckling films of the 1990's. later in his career he appeared in the television series Westworld.
