Comment/Synopsis

The story of a butler (Anthony Hopkins) in a 1930's country house as told in flashbacks as years later he sets out to meet the housekeeper (Emma THompson) again. This has wonderful production detail of the period as expected from a Merchant/Ivory production. There are good performances from Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.
