An young female FBI agent is assigned to find a psychopathic serial killer, and works to enlist the help of a brilliant psychiatrist turned serial killer. He will only help if she opens herself up to him. The film revolves around the relationship between the two of them as they both search for answers about themselves against the background of the case. The performances as they spar against each other are excellent. This is an excellent tense drama that builds to nail biting climax. There are very good performances from both Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins as the cannibal Hannibal Lecter who both won Oscars for their performances. This was the first horror film that won a several Oscars.
