Career / Biography

Jonathan Demme was an influencial director and producer. His initial break was with Roger Corman and with Last Emabrace he picks up Alfred Hitchcock like themes. One of the characteristics of his films was the integration of music. Melvin And Howard was his first commercial success. After several music videos he came back with Something Wild. Following this, was Married To The Mob, which had Michelle Pfeiffer in both a comic and a serious role as a mob wife which was followed up with the pshychological drama Silence Of The Lambs. Jonathan Demme allows Hopkins and Foster to thrive and won him an Oscar. Him and Tom Hanks in Philadelphia had an influence on how HIV was seen in the USA.
