Director: Jonathan Demme
A woman leaves her family to find her dream of becoming a rock star. Years later she returns to the family home when her ex-husband tells her that her daughter is getting divorced. Meryl Streep is the middle aged rocker who goes back to family that she abandoned, only to find her daughter in emotional trauma, her sons dislike her and her husband has married a woman who has kept the family together over the years. Meryl Streep gives a good performance as the mother coming to terms with the consequences of her actions and the best scenes are those with Mamie Gummer as her on-screen daughter as well as her real life life daughter. Kevin Kline is miscast as the insipid father.
