Career / Biography

Mack Sennett was a director and producer of comedy films in the silent era. He was a founder of Keystone Pictures and was noted for for his slapstick comedies. Many of his early films were chase comedies and many were improvised. When the local police changed their uniforms he bought up the old uniforms and so created the Keystone Cops. Although he made the transition to talkies, these films were less successful and less inovative. many ppopular stars started their careers in Mack Sennett films (Charles Chaplin, Harry Langdon, Roscoe Arbuckle, Harold Lloyd, Mabel Normand, Carol Lombard, Gloria Swanson and Bing Crosby)
