Michelle Pfeiffer is a good and versatile actress who has featured in a wide variety of films including drama (Dangerous Liaisons), fantasy (Stardust), comedy (Married to the Mob) and musical (Fabulous Baker Boys) films. She is a beautiful woman but can also play the role of an ordinary woman. Her sister is Dedee Pfeiffer. She entered a beauty pageant, from which she signed up an agent and started getting small parts. Her first film role was The Hollywood Knights. Her first staring role was in Grease 2. She followed this with Brian De Palma's Scarface as the drug addicted character opposite Al Pacino, which was a strong performance for only her 4th film. LadyHawk was n historical fantasy. In the Witches of Eastwick she showed her ability to work with other star actors (Cher and Susan Sarandon). In 1988 she appeared in three very different films, Tequila Sunrise being a taught thriller, Married to the Mob a comedy and Dangerous Liaisons an historical drama, all of which were very good performances in their styles. In the Fabulous Baker Boys she showed both her acting and singing talents and it who her a nomination for Best Actress Oscar. The scene of her singing on the piano in a red dress is iconic. The Russia House is a cold war spy thriller where she is a Russian opposite Sean Connery. Love Filed revolves around the assassination of Kennedy and her performance gain her her second Best Actress Oscar nomination. In Batman Returns she made a version of Catwoman that built on the earlier versions that is both sexy and villainous having changed from mousey secretary. Wolf was a horror film and One Fine Day a romantic comedy. In The Deep End Of The Ocean she manages to play the mother who loses her child with a heart breaking performance of passion. This was followed by a version of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream and then the horror/thriller What Lies Beneath from Robert Zemekis. In White Oleander she plays against type as a woman who murdered her lover and takes it out on her daughter and her daughters life. She was concerned about playing her role in Hairspray because the character is unpleasant and racist. Her role in the fantasy film Stardust was a much lighter role. The Family was a black comedy. She gives a good performance in Kenneth Branagh's Murder On The Orient Express, though her acting and presence rather than the dialogue.
