Glynis Johns was a British actress who had a long career on both stage and screen but is best known for her role as the mother in the Disney version of Mary Poppins and te mermaid in Miranda. Her father was the actor Mervyn Johns. As well as her films she also appeared in a couple of episodes of the television series Batman set in England. She had a 6 year marriage to Anthony Forwood.
