Janet Leigh remains best known for the infamous shower scene in Psycho, though she could also play comedy,drama and bring glamour to the screen. She was the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis from her marriage to Tony Curtis. At 18 she was spotted by Norma Shera who arranged a screen test and contract at MGM. Her first film was The Romance Of Rosy Ridge. After several dramatic roles she stared in th thriller Act Of Violence as the vulnerable young wife of a war veteran. After Little WOmen she had become a majpr star. HolidayAffair was a gentle romantic comedy. She married Tony Curtis and appeared in 5 films with him. During the 1950's she appeared in a variety of styles of film including the musical Two Tickets To Broadway and the historical drama Scaramouche. She played a stronger role in the western The Naked Spur opposite Jimmy Stewart and had become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. In 1953 she appeared in Houdini, her first film with husband Tony Curtis. This was soon followed by their second film together the historical romantic drama The Black Shield of Falworth. Jet Pilot suffered from being filmed in 1950 but not released by Howard Hughes until 1957 making the aviation point of the film out of date. She bounced back from this with Orson Welles's Touch Of Evil as she plays a darker role in this film noir. This was followed by her most well known role in Alfred Hitchcocke's Psycho and the infamous shower scene. She said she could never take a shower after making this scene. THis was followed by another classic film of this period, The Manchurian Candidate. After her divorce from Tony Curtis she appeared in less films and working on television. In 1980 she worked with her daughter Jamies Lee Curtis in John Carpenter's The Fog.
