Quentin Tarantino has produced or directed a series of generally violent films, some of which have achieved cult status. AFter school he worked for 5 years in a video store. His first break through film was Reservoir Dogs which he wrote and directed. He then wrote the script for True Romance which was directed by Tony Scott. Pulp Fiction was the film that made his name and was very influencial with its multiple layers, theme and non-linear time line that wove into each other. He was nominated for Best Director and won the Best Screenplay Oscars. Oliver Stone then director tarantino's screenplay Natural Born Killers. He then wrote and irecetd Jackie Brown. There was a 6 year break before he directed his next feature film, Kill Bill Vol 1. Which was a provacative mix of a variety of genre, Japanese, Western, revenge. Kill Bill Vol 2 was the second half of the story. His next film was the grinhouse style Death Proof. Inglourious Basterds was a war film, though not a traditional war film. He followed this with the westren, Django Unchained. The Hateful Eight was a variation on the western theme and unusually it was shot on 70mm film. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood was a look back to Hollywood in the 1960's.
