Nicole Kidman started her career in Australia before having her first major success in Dead Calm and then in Days Of Thunder with Tom Cruise, who she then married for 11 years. Her career continued to rise with increasingly impressive performances, and she has now established herself as a major star in drama, musicals and comedy films both in Hollywood blockbusters and independent art films. She started her acting career in Australian films with BMX Bandits. Her first major staring role was in the thriller Dead Calm. With Far and Away she stared with her then husband Tom Cruise. To Die For was in many ways a parody of celebrity. The Portrait Of A Lady is the historical drama based on the Henry James novel. Practical Magic was a change in style into comic fantasy. In Eyes Wide Shut she again worked with Tom Cruise in the Stanley Kubrick film. It was another 2 year before she released another film, but in 2001 she stared in Moulin Rouge and The Others. She had a Best Actress Oscar nomination for Moulin Rouge. The Others was a very different performance in an understated almost supernatural performance. In The Hours she played Virginia Woolf and won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance. Her roles in films like Stepford Wives and Bewitched were much lighter roles and Golden Compass a big budget CGI laden film. Australia is another Baz Luhrmann film that was a spralling epic of Australia. She then appeared in various drama's and thrilelr's both in America and in Australia. Destroyer was a gritty crime thriller whilst Aquaman was a big CGI laded film.
