Joseph M Schenck produced a range of films in the 1920's and 1930's, but also had a much wider career in the film industry. In 1917 he created the Norma Talmadge Film Corporation with his wife Norma Talmadge which became a successful business. In 1933 he created Twentieth Century Pictures with Darryl F Zanuck, which merged with Fox Film Corporation in 1935 to form 20th Century Fox. As a result Schenck became on one the most influencial people in the film industry. He was also one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
