Bernard Herrmann was a composer known for his film scores, particularly the ones in collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock. In Citizen Kane there is his use of short musical sequences whilst in Psycho there is a score played only on strings but in the shower scene there is dramatic change in the musical emphasis.
