An ageing gunfighter who has retired to become a farmer, comes out of retirement after his wife dies, to kill for one last time. Produced and directed by Eastwood, this film is darker than most westerns as it blurs the simple good/bad distinction of most of this type of film. This film unpacks some of the myths around the western and also of some of Clint Eastwoods own charcters in previous westerns.
