A strugling artist tries to sell his paintings to a couple who run an art gallery but they tell him to find more passion. He meets a young woman who inspires him but she is not what she seems, as she seems to have died years before. The film has very little plot, and what there is, is predictable. However the performances make up for it. Jennifer Jones is good as the innocent but alluring girl and there is good support from Joseph Cotten as the artist trying to find his muse and Ethel Barrymore as the supportive gallery owner.
