Comment/Synopsis

A doctor saves a woman from committing suicide on a boat. She meets up with him later and they marry but there are tension between his work with the ppor and her wealthy life style and her love for a another married man. The film revolves around the romance between Hedy Lamarr and Spencer Tracy who both start with different aspirations but find themselves overcoming their problems. Verree Teasdale gives a brash performance as the dress shop owner who is determined to move Hedy Lamarr back to the upmarket social set rathe than being married to a doctor in a poor clinic.
