A woman (Meryl Streep) persuades her husband (Tommy Lee Jones) to attend an intensive marrige counselling course (Steve Carell) to reignite their marriage after 30 years. This is an emotional drama as a couple open up their marriage and themselves. It is the performances from Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, particularly when they are in the counsellors office that makes the film watchable.
