Two TV news reporters (William Hurt and Albert Brooks) compete for the attentions of feisty and outspoken news editor (Holly Hunter). Set against a background of television news reporting an international incident, it starts to question what happens when news becomes entertainment and the move to style over substance. This film has both satire and comedy against a background of romance. There is a great performance from both Holly Hunter and William Hurt, plus a gem of a cameo from Joan Cusack running to deliver a tape across the studio. Unusually for a rom-com the female lead does not end up with either of the men and each goes their separate ways. .
