Alma Taylor was a British actress who stated her career as a child actress in silent films. She appeared in over 150 films, mainly silent films and some sound films. At one point she was making 18 films a year. Many of her silent films were made for Cecil Hemsworth at his British studio who carefully managed her persona and career. She was Britains most popular actor in the 1910's. In 1915 she was voted Britians most popular performer ahead of Charlie Chaplin. She was seen as Britian's answer to Mary Pickford, whith her blue eyed innocence. Her persona was carefully cultivated by the director and studio boss Cecil Hepworth. Sadly few of her films remain as when the studio went backrupt in 1927,the film stock was destroyed to recover the silver to pay the debts.
