Career / Biography

John Travolta came to international fame in Saturday Night Fever and Grease, and his other major success was in Pulp Fiction. His other films have been a mixed selection, although the good Broken Arrow is generally underrated. He is married to Kelly Preston. He started his career with roles on the stage and in television, but it was his break out role was the lead in Saturday Night Fever. He followed this up with the equally successful Grease. Urban Cowboy was a way of continuing his entertaining personal with dancing but in a less frothy environment. Blow Out was a dramatic role in a dark murder film and different to his previous roles. He returned to the dance film with the poor Staying Alive, before featuring in the romantic comedy Look Who's Talking. This has two sequels before his next major role in Quentin Tarantino's violent film Pulp Fiction. His next film, Get Shorty had a different feel as a loan shark getting caught up in the movie business. This was followed by several films showing his rage, with the almost sci-fi Phenomenon to the action hero in Broken Arrow. Face/Off was a different performance as he swaps faces with Nicholas Cage and then plays Nicholas Cage. With Swordfish he moved into a computer hacking thriller and then with hairspray he moved back into dance and music. He moved back into being a criminal as the hostage taker in The Taking Of Pelham 123. His later films have not been as successful.
