Roy Scheider is remembered for his role in the Jaws films (we're gonna need a bigger boat), but as well as his film roles, he also appeared on television (Seaquest DSV). His early careerwas on the stage and in television on several soap opera's. His first significant film role was in Puzzle of a Downfall Child. His breakout role was in Klute, but it was The French Connection that made him a star. The Seven-Ups was another police drama and was followed by the dark comedy Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York. Also in 1975 he starred in Jaws where he plays the family man rather than the strong policeman. This was a major box office success and he followed this with the thriller Marathon Man. After Jaws 2 he worked in All That Jazz with Bob Fosse and although he had a background as a boxer he came across as a dancer. His next film was 3 years later the psychological thriller Still Of The Night that was seen as a homage to Hitchcock thrilers. He had less commercial success in the late 1980's though he had success with THe Russia House and The Rainmaker in the 1990's
