A Canadian fur trapper buys a mute woman to be his wife and takes her off to his remote cabin. Through various hardships her animosity to him develops into affection. Whilst the plot is not original, it is well produced and there are good performances from both Oliver Reed and Rita Tushingham in the two lead roles. Rita Tushingham gives one of her better performances even though she does not say a word in the film.
