In the deep south of America in the 1930's Gregory Peck is a lawyer who is given the job of defending a black man accused of raping a white girl. This a good adaptation of the Harper Lee novel that looks at racism of the period from the view of Gregory Peck's children. It is faithful to the book by Harper Lee and in many ways a challenge to the racial position in America at that time. It was trying to grapple with the civil rights movement of the time. It is also a touching father daughter movie.
