Comment/Synopsis

A mysterious musician (John Barrymore) meets a model (Marian Marsh) and he uses his hypnotic powers to pretend she is dead to get her boyfriend out of the way. He then turns her into a singing sensation, but her boyfriend eventually finds them. John Barrymore's portrayal of the Svengali character is regarded as the best on film and there is good support from Marian Marsh as Trilby. A remake of the Maurice Tourneur production Trilby from 1915.
