Comment/Synopsis

This is a gentle romantic drama of life and love, set around a beauty parlour in the southern USA with good performances from the main female leads, including Shirley MacLaine in one of her more mature roles. It is though the performance and character of Sally Field that is central to the film. This was the first Oscar nomination for Julia Roberts.
