A rural farming family spend a week at the Iowa state fair where they want to win prizes and find love. This gives a slice of rural life in 1930's America and as just pre-code, there are scenes of unmarried couples talking in bedrooms with the implications of they are up to. The film was nominated as best picture as more of an ensemble piece rather than individual performances. Though Janet Gaynor is good as the naive young woman being exploited and Sally Eilers as the more worldly wise trapeze artist.
