Comment/Synopsis
An aspiring actress goes to New York with the aim of becoming a major theatre star. She struggles to reach her goal but along the way she meets a producer (Henry Fonda) and a writer (Christopher Plummer). She finally gets her big break when they give her the lead role in a new play over their established star (Joan Greenwood). The film is dominated by the performance of Susan Strasberg which can be viewed as either very flat and unemotional or a performance that actually reflects the character she is playing. Either way there are good performances from Henry Fonda and Christopher Plummer. This is a remake of the earlier film Morning Glory with Katherine Hepburn, but made after RKO pictures had been sold by Howard Hughes. The was CHristopher Plummer's first film role.
