Comment/Synopsis
This is David Lean's and Terence Rattigan's fictionalised account of breaking the sound barrier. This is less about the science and technology of planes breaking the sound barrier and more about the drive and human cost involved in acheiving this. It is all very unemotional and British stiff upperlip despite the human cost as exemplified by Ann Todd's performance as her brother and husband are both killed trying to break the sound barrier. Ann Todd was married to David Lean at the time of making this filme
