The long term residents of a Bournemouth hotel have their lives disrupted by the arrival of the beautiful ex-wife of the residents and the revelation that one of the residents has been inappropriate with women despite the attraction between him and the daughter of the hotel owner. This is Terence Rattigan's view of middle class manners in the late 1950's. Whilst the world has changed this reflects the world as it was then and there are some very good performances within this context. Deborah Kerr is good as the put upon daughter, Rita Hayworth as the beautiful American actress and David Niven as the mild mannered ex-soldier with psychological problems.
