Walter Mitty (Danny Kaye) is a mild mannered man who works for a publisher and is engaged to be married (Ann Rutherford). He escapes his humdrum life by having day dreams of him doing heroic things, until one day he meets a mysterious beautiful woman (Virginia Mayo) and gets drawn into a real life adventure for a book that contains details of treasure. There is a good performance from Danny kaye and he is well supported by by the always capable Virginia Mayo.
