Joan Bennett is a wealthy American who goes to Mexico for one last holiday before she marries an old friend. However on holiday she meets Michael Redgrave, falls in love with him and marries him. She soon discovers that he is not as perfect as he seems and in his house he has recreated rooms where murders have taken place and also a locked room. This is a mixture of psycholoogy and film noir with a nod towards Hitchcock and his version of Rebecca. Fritz Lang produces a moody atmosphere in this films and gets good performances from both Joan Bennett and Michael Redgrave.
