Comment/Synopsis

An 11 year old girl lives a lonely existence despite being rich as her her father spends his time making money and her mother in socialising. Despite being put upon by the servants she manages to have a series of adventures. Mary Pickford was in her early 20's but very convincingly plays an 11 year old child, with her joyful exuberance and her long curly hair. This was one of her defining roles as the young woman and is helped by a combination of the cinematography and employing tall supporting actors. The high points of the film are the mud fight in the green house and the dream sequence that parodies the different characters in the film.
