Comment/Synopsis
This is the classic musical version of Bernard Shaw's stage play Pygmalion that was based on the Broadway stage version. Rex Harrison bets that he can take London east ender Audrey Hepburn and turn her into a lady at a society ball. It is one of the classic film musicals with some memorable songs and performances by Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn. Rex Harrison reprised his role from the Broadway production but Julie Andrews was rejected by producer Jack Warner in favour of Audrey Hepburn. Though Julie Andrews did then make Mary Poppins.
