After a popular radio singer refuses to sign a new contract the agent has to find a new star and discovers a single mother with a grate singing voice, but he struggles to get her career started. This was only Doris Day's second film and she was already second billed. her charm and vocal talents are already clear, even though the plot and script are not very good. There is solid support from the rest of the cast, though it is Eve Arden's slightly comic performance as Jack Carson's assistant that is the most entertaining. There is a somewhat incongruous mixed live action and animated sequence with Bugs Bunny towards the end of the film.
