A woman (Loretta Young) who has spent her trust fund from her late husband can get money from a scholarship set up by her grandmother but she has to enrol in the same university as her daughter (Betty Lynn) and this means she can pay her daughters fees. Once there she starts to fall in love with the English professor (Van Johnson) that her daughter has a crush on. This a light feel good romantic comedy made post world war 2 with a now dated plot. The script flows and is helped by Loretta Young's performance. The film was nominated for an Oscar for its costume design, but for an early film made in Technicolour the colours are very drab being nearly all grey and brown.
