Comment/Synopsis


An American scientist (Anna Neagle) is recruited to obtain information from a Russian by pretending to be married to an American spy (Zsa Zsa Gabor). When she is killed in their hotel room, but he tries to run away and is charged with her murder. Anna Neagle is the barrister who has to defend him but he refuses to defend himself because of promises he made to the scientist. The first half sets up the scene and characters and the second half is basically a courtroom drama as Anna Neagle unpicks the evidence and witnesses to prove his innocence. There are solid performances from Anna Neagle and Anthony Quayle.
