After both her brothers and her lover go off to war an Italian woman takes over looking after the lighthouse. She then rescuses a man who claims he is an American deserter. So she hides him but he turns out to be a spy. This was a film that Mary Pickford manted to make as she is a more mature woman rather the her usual teenage roles. She does give a good performance in a dramatic role. The plot does have some logical problems and the story is not entirely convincing. There are a number of stange scenes involving various farm animals that really add little to the story.
