The young son (Mary Pickford) of a widow (Mary Pickford) living in New York suddenly discovers that he is next in line to become an English Earl and inherit a large house and estate. This retelling of the novel is notable for Mary Pickford playing both the young boy and his mother. Whilst Mary Pickford is not the most convincing boy, but her natural enthusiasm and energy caries the film and the photography of the scenes where she plays both characters in the same shot are very good considering this was made in 1921.
