A young American woman has a German lover and a French lover. At the outbreak of World War 1, they both return to Europe to fight on opposite sides of the war. She gets a boat to Europe and survives it being sunk. She returns to her ancestral home in France, is nearly raped by her German lover, sentenced to be shot as a spy and resuced by her French lover. This is a piece of unashamed American wartime propaganda, but the combination of Cecil B DeMille producing Mary Pickford makes this better than other similar films.
