Joseph Cotten is an American engineer who abondons his wife in Instanbul to escape people trying to kill him. However they follow him onto the ship he is escaping on. Orson Welles is underused in a small part and the plot is not clear, but the black and white cinematography gives some good style and suspense to the film, with some typicaly good scenes produced by Orson Welles using sound and visuals.
