A pair of quarrelling shop workers (Judy Garland and Van Johnson) do not realise they are actually pen-pals. This is essentially a remake of the earlier The Shop Around The Corner but not as good as that version. Judy Garland brings some elegant charm and sings a couple of numbers, but it does not really have a feel of a musical. Both Van Johnson and Buster Keaton have bland characters, though Buster Keaton did set up the comic scenes with the hat and violin. The most engaging performance is from S Z Sakall as the bumbling shop owner.
