Bette Davis is an aging reclusive Southern Belle drifting towards madness following the murder of her husband years before. Her equilibrium is further disturbed with the arrival of her relative Olivia de Haviland, Meanwhile the eccentric housekeeper Anges Moorehead tries to keep some order within the house. The highlight of the film is the performance of Bette Davis, but she is well supported by both Olivia de Haviland and Agnes Moorehead and the atmosphere is helped by some good photography.
