Comment/Synopsis

The owner of a shoe making shop has three grown up daughters who want to marry, only he uses them as unpaid labour to run the shop. He thinks the eldest is to old to marry, but she decides to marry the man who actually makes the shoes and they set up a rival business. The film is based on the stage play by Harold Brighouse. This is a good British silent film that is well cast, although not with well known actors. The 1954 David Lean sound version is though a better film.
