An aristorcratic couple in hard times have to open up their stately home to paying visitors. A millionare American meets the wife and they start an affair. He is comforted by her best friend. This is an entertaining comedy of manners and romance with a very good central performance from Deborah Kerr as the woman choosing between her husband and her lover.
