A writer (Barry Watson) returns to his home town when his estranged uncle dies and leaves him the local newspaper that he ran in his will. His initial antagonism to the locals changes when he realises a local businessman wants to redevelop part of the town to the detriment of the lcoals. He teams up with the local female lawyer (Stefanie von Pfetten) to fight back.
