A hustler (Dana Andrews) arives in a small town where a meets the waitress (Linda Darnell) at the local diner. He thinks she will only be interested in him if he has money so he marries a wealthy woman (Alice Faye), but when the waitress in murdered he is the prime suspect. This is variation on the murder mystery plot from director Otto Preminger. It is notable as the last film by Alice Faye who left her contract and Hollywood as she thought all her best scenes had been edited out of this film.
