Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel are two army officers in Napeleon's army who fight a series of duels over a 30 year period covering Napoleon's rise and fall. The is more about how the two men deal with the situation, one rising up through it and the other being eaten away by it. The film is visually impressive and the duel scenes realistic as you would expect from a David Puttnam produced film. It is based on the novel by Joseph Conrad. This was Ridley Scott's first feature film although it was not a commercial success.
